Learn how to raise bilingual kids at this MOE seminar

Pick up expert tips, participate in activities and buy mother tongue resources that aren't widely available.

Young Parents

Want to raise a bilingual child? Then sign up for the Ministry of Education’s (MOE’s) fourth annual Mother Tongue Languages (MTL) Symposium, which focuses on “Our Mother Tongues as Living Languages” this year.

Pick up tips from the experts in the 20 sharing sessions and workshops there, such as Growing Up with Two First Languages, Brain and Learning – Gaining CL Proficiency for Children with Special Needs, and Creating a Supportive Home Environment for Tamil Language Learning and Use. Do note that some sessions will be held in Mandarin, Malay or Tamil.

While you’re there, check out the 40 exhibitor booths, including those by preschools, primary schools and community partners such as the Malay Language Centre of Singapore, the Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee, and student publications from Singapore Press Holdings’ Lianhe Zaobao.

The symposium is also a good place to pick up mother-tongue resources like books, picture cards and CDs that aren’t widely available. These are developed by MOE’s community partners.

Admission is free, but you must register in advance for sharing sessions and workshops. Visit
